Real veneer over board, so the cover has the weight and the sound of wood rather than the look of it. Each one differs — the grain is not printed, which means no two covers in an order of two hundred are identical. That variation is worth flagging to whoever signs off the sample, because a buyer expecting uniformity will read natural variation as inconsistent quality. It is neither, but the conversation is easier had upfront. Laser engraving is the only sensible branding: it burns the mark into the grain permanently. The matching turned pen is wood over a metal core, so it has some heft rather than feeling hollow.
