The shape everyone recognises — body, metal collar, cover that swings round the pivot to expose the connector. It endures because it solves the cap problem. Capped drives are separated from their caps within a week and the connector then collects pocket lint. A swivel keeps the two parts as one object for the life of the drive. Black body with a brushed metal swivel. Print on the flat body face, engrave on the metal. Sixteen gigabytes as standard. When the brief is simply a reliable branded drive in quantity with no design agenda, this is the default and there is nothing wrong with it.
