Cognac sits between tan and brown and is the shade that photographs best of the three — enough red in it to look warm without tipping into orange under artificial light. The tray is matched to the cover, so the set arrives as a single tone rather than a brown notebook in a black box. On the two-piece sets that matching matters disproportionately, because there is not much else to look at. Elastic closure, standard A5, metal pen. Deboss is the right branding here; the leather-look grain gives the impression depth that a flat print would sit on top of.
